Times Of Swaziland: ’LANDERS PATRONS BACK ALLY ’LANDERS PATRONS BACK ALLY ================================================================================ BY SABELO NDZINISA on 14/08/2020 02:15:00 MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders’ patrons have passed a vote of confidence on the leadership style of South African businessman Ally Kgomongwe. This comes amid the barrage of criticism levelled against the Pretoria-based businessman after he announced his intention to bail out Manzini Wanderers from their financial troubles. He offered a loan to the Hub giants in a joint press conference between the two sides over a week ago at the Happy Valley Resort. This move, however, did not go down well with a section of the local football fraternity as he was accused of breaching FIFA Statutes and Ethics. Kgomongwe, alongside the team’s top official Benson Dlamini, had a meeting with the Highlanders’ patrons this week where the progress report was delivered and discussed. Sources confided that the meeting went well and the patrons were satisfied with the direction the team was taking under Kgomongwe’s leadership. fruitful This was confirmed by patrons’ secretary Musa Masuku, who described their meeting with Kgomongwe and Dlamini as fruitful. “The meeting was solely to get a progress report from the MD and at the end, we were happy with what was presented. The MD has the full backing of the patrons and this was made known to him during the meeting,” Masuku said. alluded On the other hand, Kgomongwe also alluded to the fact that he attended the meeting in question alongside Dlamini. “The meeting was positive and we discussed the progress the team is making since I took over. From what we spoke about, they were happy with my input so far and gave assurance that they will continue supporting the team going forward,” the Pretoria-based businessman said. He reiterated that he only wanted what was best for Highlanders and had very big plans to take the team back to the top where they belonged. “Highlanders is a big team and they must play to win big. We are still in the process of fortifying this team to make it more competitive and I will not rest until I achieve my targets for the team,” Kgomongwe said. He thanked the patrons for the meeting and the vote of confidence on his administrative style. Dlamini, meanwhile, also confirmed attending the meeting but referred further inquiries to Kgomongwe.
