This is the view of the women who were interviewed randomly yesterday. The Sports Desk interviewed different women in sport and this is part of the feature articles which are meant to celebrate women in the month of August. Siphesihle Dlamini - REPS Athlete: Who made you join athletics? “It all started at a very young age...Then the drive grew up into passion..Then hunger to win then it was training after training. I wanted to achieve big things in the sport and do the country proud. One thing I love about the sport is that it keeps one away from unnecessary conduct such as drinking and clubbing. Your take on women in sports and why women should join sports: “Health benefits: I’ll advise everyone to exercise as it provides countless health benefits. When you do sports you tend to spend more time training and playing or in competitions and in that way it can be a stress reliever. Do you think enough is being done to develop sports for women? “To develop the sport for women in the country I think less effort has been made because we are still holding on to the belief that a woman’s place is in the kitchen. We need to get rid of that belief and encourage more women to join sport.”
