Times Of Swaziland: SICELO TO ALSO CONTEST FOR PLE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE POSITION SICELO TO ALSO CONTEST FOR PLE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE POSITION ================================================================================ Sabelo Ndzinisa on 31/07/2020 09:58:00 MBABANE – Manzini Sea Birds co-director Sicelo Mkhonta has also been nominated for the position of Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive Committee member. This is according to a memorandum released by PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati to all the 26 elite teams yesterday afternoon. This means that there are six candidates that will be contesting for places in the executive committee during the elections for the organisation. The nominations will be used for the election of the new executive committee during the annual general meeting (AGM), whose date remains unknown. Mkhonta is among nominees for the chairmanship alongside his executive committee colleagues in Chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula and Denver Sundowns’ boss Mark Carmichael. According to Vilakati, the nominated individuals were selected as final candidates based on the constitution governing the operations of the PLE as stipulated in article 37 (6), which states that: Conforming “For a candidate to be eligible to stand for the position of chairman of the PLE, in addition to conforming to the requirements as stipulated in this constitution, shall have been a member of the PLE Executive Committee for at least four years.” For executive committee, Mkhonta will also be battling with Carmichael, who has also been nominated for that position as well apart from the chairmanship. Others are Vovovo FC boss Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe, Rudolph Matsenjwa (Tambuti FC), Mjuluko Gamedze (Madlenya FC) and Victor Rodriguez (Malanti). These qualify under the provisions of Article 23 (10) of the constitution stating that: “A nominee for the executive committee must be a registered official of a club provided that such nominee is a chairperson, chief executive officer or a director of a club. A nominee must have been a registered official in one or more of the league’s clubs for not less than 48 months prior to nomination. A nominee must accept nomination and must be present at the meeting.”
