Mashesha is the late former Nkomanzi Sundowns Director Charles Nhlengetfwa who groomed a number of players, who turned out to be a success in local and international football. Sundowns played for two seasons in the elite league between 1998 and 2000. “It is very sad that he has passed on and I send my condolences to his family as he was a father to a majority of us as players. May his soul rest in peace,” he said. recruitment Bhembe said Nhlengetfwa liked to see young boys playing football and he was behind their recruitment and he played a major role in introducing them in the elite league. Some of the players who were recruited by Nhlengetfwa include now Mbabane Highlanders goalkeeper Coach Njabuliso Simelane, Sabelo Shilubane, Mcolisi ‘Tico Tico’ Dlamini and Sicelo ‘Wire’ Mazibuko among others. “I still remember the day he came to recruit me here in Mbabane. He loved football and he would do anything to see us playing. We became a strong team and other teams came to know of us while playing there,” he said. Bhembe said they won the Charity Cup while it was trading under the Baphalali Red Cross. special “We won the trophy after beating Young Buffaloes 2-0 in the finals having won against big teams including Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers. What made that moment special was the fact that we were relegated the same year we won the trophy,” he added. Bhembe said Nhlengetfwa invested a lot in football and he would be greatly missed. Sundowns got relegated in 2001 and never came back to the elite league with a majority of its players joining big guns, including Mbabane Swallows, Mbabane Highlanders, Moneni Pirates and Manzini Wanderers.
