EFA’S OVER E30M  BUDGET  FOR 2021

MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has announced a budget of
over E30 million for the 2021 financial year.
The exact amount is E30 600 000. This transpired last Sunday at the Happy Valley
Resort, Ezulwini, during the association’s 2020 Ordinary General Assembly.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngometulu informed delegates in an
analysis of the association’s financial statements ended December 31, 2019 of
this budget. Vice-Chairman Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane had initially delivered
the financial reports.
According to the budgeted figures, the EFA has a budget of E30 600 000 in total
for this financial year, part of which will be acquired from government, through
the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs. The budget is comprised of E5
million budgeted from government, a FIFA grant of E23.2 million and CAF grant of
E2.4 million.
In 2020, the budget estimate for the EFA was E21.8 million, meaning it was E8.8
million less than the budget estimate of the year 2021.
The increase for 2021 was a result of an increased budget of the FIFA grant from
E14.4 million to E23.2 million.
The 2019 financial year’s budget was the same as the 2020 budget of E21. 8
million but the actual figure shot up to E28.5 million.
Despite that the association received E3.7 million from government; they were
boosted by the increase of the FIFA grant from E14.4 million to E21.9 million.
Grant
Instead of the anticipated E2.4 million CAF grant, the local football mother
body also received E2.8 million. EFA Marketing and Communications Officer, Muzi
Radebe, said the budget was as the financials reflected. “That is the budget
of the association. Most of the money will be received from FIFA,” said
Radebe. He also disclosed that the E5 million budget from government was
strictly allocated for the national team, Sihlangu.
The nation’s pride has four international friendlies lined-up between October
and November. Dominic Kunene’s charges are also expected to play Congo
Brazzaville and Senegal in the AFCON Qualifiers where the first match was
supposed to be played in March before the COVID-19 threat that forced CAF to put
on hold all continental tournaments.
