Times Of Swaziland: IN-HOUSE WORKOUT PROGRAMME IN-HOUSE WORKOUT PROGRAMME ================================================================================ Pholsile Hlophe on 26/03/2020 08:30:00 MBABANE – Boost your immune system, stay fit and strong in the comfort of your home. The Kingdom of Eswatini, like most countries affected by COVID-19, is in a 20-day partial lockdown as an attempt to minimise the spread of the deadly virus that has claimed over 15 000 lives globally. The lockdown is a state of emergency protocol that has also resulted in the suspension of all sports activities and mass gatherings. Fitness Clubs and sports recreational facilities have been closed but to make sure that her clients maintain their fitness during this national confinement period, Studio-Z fitness instructor Zama Portgieter has empowered her clients with a workout programme that they can do at home on a daily basis. Studio-Z is a ladies-only gym situated on the outskirts of Manzini along Hhelehhele road. Train “As Studio-Z, we have decided to train in the safety of our homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I set-up a bodyweight training programme which runs from Monday to Thursday. I send out daily workout videos which are also effective with bodyweight and add dumbbells for those who have them at home. We motivate each other by reposting short clips of us training in our homes so that we remain motivated to stay active through this lockdown,” said Portgieter. This programme is not only limited to Studio-Z members but is open to every willing individual. Phindile Mdlallahwa, one of Studio-Z members who is also part of the home fitness programme said expressed her appreciation to the coach for continuing to motivate them during this critical time. “The programme is remarkable and we keep each other accountable through the videos that we share on our Whatsapp group every day. At home I do not have to worry about social distancing because I train individually and I do not share my equipment with anyone. We work with what we have without the need for heavy machines. The online workout has helped us a lot,” said Mdlallahwa. Anyone interested in taking part in the programme can contact the trainer on 7670 2959.
