Times Of Swaziland: BODY FITNESS AND HEALTH GYM CONSCIOUS BODY FITNESS AND HEALTH GYM CONSCIOUS ================================================================================ Pholsile Hlophe on 25/03/2020 08:44:00 MBABANE – Fitness is therapy, exercise and a de-stressor, which is why in these times of uncertainty, it is the way to go. While some people chose to stay home and avoid going to the gym for a workout in fear of contracting the coronavirus, some passionate fitness enthusiasts have not stopped for a single day and still take the necessary precautionary measures to prevent contracting the deadly virus. During a morning visit to Body Fitness and Health Gym located in the Central Business District (CBD) of Matsapha, it transpired that the fitness factory was armed to the teeth with ensuring that their clients exercise in a virus free environment. At the reception, all individuals get to sanitise their hands before entering into the gym. Information The gym’s receptionist Mpendulo Khumalo personally sprays the sanitiser on every client and ensures that every machine gets cleaned with alcohol-based disinfectants every 10 minutes. Notices of information concerning coronavirus, preventative measures, symptoms of the virus in infected people and basic hygiene to be observed on a daily basis, are pinned on the walls starting from the reception area, the gym and in the aerobics department. Khumalo said that they were doing everything possible to educate their clients about the virus and also ensuring their safety at all times. He, however, mentioned that the attendance had dropped significantly as they would normally register five new clients on the first day of every month but none had made it into their books in the past week. Personally “We are not taking any chances because the virus is real so we have to make sure that our clients are safe. No one is allowed entry without sanitising their hands and I personally see them to it. We have a team of helpers who sanitise all the equipment and also do the rounds when our clients move from one machine to another. Some people are still scared to come to the gym but we are hoping to arrange for a health expert to come and capacitate our clients with the right information instead of relying on whatever is shared on social media,” said Khumalo. He further highlighted that aerobics sessions had been scheduled for a group of 10 people at a time to avoid physical contact and mass gatherings. A trio of training partners who were found pumping weights also testified about the strict rules guarding against sharing of personal items such as water bottles and towels.
