3 MORE YEARS FOR ESWATINIBANK CUP

MBABANE – The EswatiniBank is a true friend of football as it has committed
sponsorship for three more years after the ongoing 17th edition.
The bank has already spent E27.6 million since it started sponsoring the
tournament in 2004. This includes the main tournament, Under-20 tournament and
the Women’s Knockout tournament. The three-year new sponsorship will be
launched next year.

EswatiniBank Public Relations Officer (PRO) Phesheya Vilakati confirmed
yesterday. He said the bank had committed to the development of football in the
country hence their continued sponsorship of the football tournament. “The
bank has an agreement with Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and Premier
League of Eswatini (PLE) which will see the sponsorship running until 2023.
The bank is committed to the development of football in the country hence the
continued sponsorship of the football tournament,” he said. The 17th edition
was the last in the three year contract that was renewed three years ago and
this will be good news for local football as now they are guaranteed the
tournament for the next three years.
This will see the bank celebrating 20 years in 2023 sponsoring football. A large
chunk of the E27.6 million went to the main tournament where they have spent
E25.7 million while E1.5 million have been spent in the Under-20 tournament that
is celebrating its 7th year this year and E400 000 have be handed over to the
Women’s Knockout tournament that was launched in 2017. EswatiniBank launched
E3.4 million for this year ‘Idlala Kamnandzi’ tournament with E250 000 going
to the Under-20 tournament and E175 000 given to the Women’s Knockout
tournament.
EFA President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa, during the launch of this year’s
edition ,said EswatiniBank was a true friend of football and they were happy
with the partnership. “As a football family, we would like to advance, in
special standings, our profound gratitude to EswatiniBank for the now
traditional competitions in our annual datebook, EswatiniBank Cup,” he said.
His words were echoed by the PLE Chairman, Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula yesterday
during the launch of the Under-20 tournament where he said EswatiniBank
contribution in football had not gone unnoticed as they have been there for the
past 17 years.
