MBABANE – The start of the new league season is nigh for pool teams in
Manzini.
This is more so because this Saturday, the Manzini Regional Pool Association
(MRPA) will convene a Special General Meeting whereby it looks to announce the
Dixie’s Pool League kickoff dates. The meeting is scheduled for St John Bosco
Primary School at 2pm. “Among other things, we expect to welcome a number of
new member teams into our well-sponsored league, the third edition this year,”
explained MRPA Secretary Mbongeni ‘Mdlikiza’ Gamedze.
He said they would inform teams of the season kick-off dates and confirm those
that have already paid the affiliation fee. “Members that we already had last
season are expected to have paid E400 out of E600 of the affiliation fee. New
members pay a total E700 but must come to meetings having paid E500 the balances
before the start of the second round,” he said. Meanwhile, the Dixie’s Pool
League is sponsored to the tune of E40 000 but E10 000 of this amount is for the
knockout. Rookies last season Manzini Pool Club pipped then defending champions
Way Inn to the title, the later winning the knockout and finishing as runners-up
in the league.
