‘BOMBER’ BLASTS LOCAL COACHES

LOBAMBA – Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Adam ‘Bomber’
Mthethwa has been angered by local coaches for not showing interest in the
Sihlangu vacant post.
The post is vacant following the decision of the country’s football body not
to renew coach Kostadin Papic’s contract which comes to an end on December 31.
He said he was feeling a little bit ashamed after international coaches started
applying and sending their Curriculum Vitae (CV) with the locals not bothered.
He said as the national association, they did not rejoice when they did not show
interest.
He said just after it was announced that Papic’s contract would not be
renewed, international coaches read from the internet, media and they started
showing interest in the vacant post. He said as the national association they
were not pleased that locals were not showing interest when there was a vacancy.
The only coach who did show interest in the post is Young Buffaloes and the
national Under-20 coach Dominic Kunene, who was highly praised by Mthethwa for
the commitment.
Mthethwa was addressing the national team Under-20 squad that left the country
for Lusaka, Zambia where they will be playing in the COSAFA Youth  Championships
that start today with the finals on December 14.
“I feel a bit ashamed that as a founding member of the coaches association in
1987, there seems to be this division within the coaches, which I don’t know
where it comes from.

‘‘Having started coaching association and training coaches over these 30
years or so, no one shows interest that they want to take over as the national
team coach,” he said.
He said people were waiting until the executive committee appointed and
complained of being left out. He said he was impressed by the national Under-20
team and Young Buffaloes coach Dominic Kunene that he showed interest. He said
that was the attitude they wanted from people who want to work.
Mthethwa said he liked Kunene as he was always on point.
“I’m encouraging everyone that as we are going to play in Zambia, coaches
must show their support to each other and also support the national association.
We must all come together to assist in the development of football in the
country,” he said.
Mthethwa added that he was not even sure of the number of applications they
received from the internationals, while they had not advertised the post or
opened for applications.
The last local coach to lead the national team was Anthony Mdluli who was
succeeded by the Serbian and former South Africa’s Orlando Pirates coach
Papic.
