Reed Markham’s above description of a father is the reason why the world celebrates Father’s Day. This special day is celebrated in honour of fatherhood, parental bonds and the positive influence of fathers both at home and in the society. As most parts of the world celebrate this day tomorrow, except for the United Kingdom which celebrates it next Sunday, the Transformation Corner joined the masses in honouring influential fathers in their families and in the sporting world. Name : Clinton McNamara Sport of choice: Cycling What does it mean to be a father? “Being a father means being a leader, a role model, a caregiver, a believer both in faith and in your child.” Do you celebrate Father’s Day and what plans do you have for tomorrow? “My family decides to celebrate it. I just hope to be spoilt and cycle with my children after church.” When did you start cycling and when did you introduce your children to the sport? “Actually, it was my wife who started cycling in the family. My son was four years old and I was 40. It has been a blessed nine years for me growing in the sport. My son Malik has stood on national podiums as the youngest cyclist for three consecutive years and my eight-year-old daughter Kendra has started competing and promises to be the best lady cyclist in future. They are also very competitive in swimming and have obtained results in national galas soon to be recognised by the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA).”
