Times Of Swaziland: SA’S BULELANI FOR BARBOSA SA’S BULELANI FOR BARBOSA ================================================================================ BY PHOLSILE HLOPHE on 13/06/2019 00:44:00 MBABANE – He has been invited as a guest pose in the up-coming Barbosa Classic bodybuilding competition. The seventh edition of the Eswatini Bodybuilding and Wellness Festival, Barbosa Classic, will take centre stage on July 13 at House on Fire in Malkerns. The muscle showdown will feature athletes from within and beyond our borders who will be competing in various categories and contestants stand to win prizes of up to E10 000. The host of the show, Arnaldo Barbosa, announced that one of South Africa’s highly-rated bodybuilding posers, Bulelani Jola, would take the stage as a guest pose on the day. Jola, trending by the name ‘The Gifted Champ’, hails from Mdansane in East London, South Africa. He is an undisputed bodybuilder at heart and has won the title as the best poser five times in a row, following numerous International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) contests. He has competed in international competitions and placed in the top 10. His current category is the under 85kg division. Responding on how he thought he could contribute to the development of bodybuilding in the Kingdom of Eswatini, Jola said he hoped to impart skills, knowledge and tactics of stage presence and what the judges would be looking for. “It is a great honour for me to be part of the show and I hope that my sponsor, Nutri Tek, will be on board. With the experience that I have, I hope to be an open book for the athletes and spectators in Eswatini with regards to what is expected of them on stage. “I have been involved in the sport for the past 18 years and I am willing to impart the knowledge that I have acquired. I feel like I would be a worthwhile tool for them to answer their questions and assist them grow,” he said. Battle His next competition is the ‘Battle Of The Titans’ billed for Cape Town at the end of June. He also highlighted some of the challenges that he has encountered and overcame in his journey and urged athletes to pursue their dreams and leave a legacy behind regardless of setbacks. Competing divisions for the show are spinning and aerobics that are scheduled to commence at 9am, with a registration fee of E150, power lifting, bodybuilding, bikini one line-up, juniors Under-23, beginners one line-up, ladies sports model, ladies’ bodybuilding, muscles model, men’s classic bodybuilding, senior men’s bodybuilding between 80kg and 65kg. Registration for the other divisions is E200. On the entertainment spot will be Comedian Dr Shakes and Illa Penboy, while Thembinkosi Mthethwa would be the Master of Ceremonies (MC). “The big day is nearing and preparations are all in line. It is exactly 30 days before the competition day and I would like to remind athletes to stick to their training and diet programmes, focusing on every muscle group. I feel like it is my call to drive people towards their fitness dreams and by so doing I can share with them my passion for the sport,” said Barbosa. Contestants were advised to observe time and register at Barbosa Fitness Shop two days prior to the show.
