‘BULL’ MUST BEAT G. MAMBA

LOBAMBA – He knows how negative Wednesday night’s 1-all draw was to their
MTN Premier League title chances.
That is Royal Leopard’s mentor Edwin Matsebula whose Royal Leopard gave up
their two-point lead when they played to a draw with Matsapha United who also
needed a point to be assured of their elite status next season. The match was at
Somhlolo National Stadium. They are now second and level on 55 points with
leaders Green Mamba, with one game to spare.
It is all finishing this Sunday and the new champions, taking over from Mbabane
Swallows, will be crowned.
“We lost it ourselves. We couldn’t defend and allowed them to score. We had
a good first half but second half, we came back a bit not okay. We have to lift
our heads now. There’s nothing much we can do but Highlanders have to win
against Green Mamba,” Matsebula said in his post-match interview and with
disappointment written all over his face.

Leopard had gone to the break in front via striker Richard Edoa-Nga, who nodded
home in the 34th minute before Matsapha United equalised six minutes from time
through talented midfielder Emmanuel Nsiah.
The result dislodged them from the summit to second on goal difference but level
with leaders Green Mamba on 55 points with one game to spare this weekend.
Leopard were two points ahead before this result but Green Mamba managed to lick
Tambuti 1-0 to level the points and take the summit. Green Mamba finish the
season against Mbabane Highlanders, who beat them 2-1 in first round while
Leopard have Young Buffaloes to worry about. Meanwhile, Matsebula’s
counterpart, Rodwell Dhlakama, who was back to rescue his team from relegation,
was euphoric about the draw.
“It’s a great result for us. We had a good game and good first half where we
should have scored one or two goals and the second half was amazing for us as we
came back intent on not losing this match and were more resilient to get the
point we sought to be safe from relegation, which was I came for here,” he
said.
He said they would now be focussing on preparing for next season as the team
needed to get the players it needed to boost the squad so they can pick points
early than later.
