Y’ELLO LEAGUE DERBIES FOR THE FANS!

MBABANE – It’s a Sunday of derbies in what can be termed as a tale of two
cities – hub rivals Manzini Wanderers and Manzini Sundowns clash head-on
before defending league champions Mbabane Swallows take on elite rookies Mbabane
Citizens.
This is all taking place this afternoon in the only MTN Premier League fixtures
for the day. The hub derby has a lot of significance; while it is also about the
pride and bragging rights, this one is mostly more about the three points for
either side. They are both currently not safe from relegation with eight games
to go before the curtain falls. The Mbabane derby, on the other hand, has quite
some interesting factors including Citizens being run by former Mbabane
Highlanders’ Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane, who once clashed with
Swallows’ late boss Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze in the Royal Box during the
two capital city giants’ big derby. Citizens also want out of the relegation
zone as they are currently the basement side but Swallows also believe they can
still defend the league. Interesting stuff!
