ARSENAL’S  ELNENY  A HIT AT AIRPORT

MATSAPHA - England’s Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny stole the show in the
absence of talisman Mohamed Salah on Egypt’s arrival last night.
After keeping almost everyone guessing about their exact arrival time, the Egypt
67-member delegation jetted at around 9:40pm on board a chartered plane at
Matsapha International Airport. There was no ‘Mo’ Salah who got injured in
the reverse fixture last Friday. While others were overheard lamenting the
absence of Salah, airport officials and other few officials and fans at the
airport were seen taking ‘selfies’ with Elneny.
Elneny featured in the home game played three days ago and at some point
combined well with Salah. He suffered muscle problems during the game, but he is
among players who are here for tomorrow’s decisive fixture at Mavuso Sports
Centre. Left back Amro Tarek is also said to be suffering muscle problems but he
is in Eswatini.

Eswatini Football Association (EFA) officials led by CEO Frederick Mngomezulu
and executive member Sonnyboy Mabuza, who is Egypt’s attaché, were among
officials who met the visitors at the airport last night.
On arrival, the plane had challenges completing its journey on the runaway due
to the thick mist, and had to be led by an airport car for over 600 metres.
After the formalities, the delegation headed for the exit wearing big smiles.
They are accommodated at Royal Villas and Royal Swazi in Ezulwini.

Meanwhile, Egypt, who beat Sihlangu 4-1 at home last Friday, are here for
tomorrow’s Africa Cup of Nations fourth group qualifying match at Mavuso
Sports Centre at 3pm. They will train at the venue this afternoon and then grant
interviews to the media.
Meanwhile, Coach Javier Aguirre decided to allow Liverpool star Salah to return
to his club to give him extra rest, though medical scans revealed that getting
him ready for tomorrow’s match would be difficult.
