Times Of Swaziland: WE’RE GOING NOWHERE – MB. CITY! WE’RE GOING NOWHERE – MB. CITY! ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 14/09/2018 03:28:00 MBABANE – They are not going down without a fight - that is certain. That is Mbabane City formerly known as Midas City. After feeling allegedly neglected by the football structures being the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), who they wrote several correspondences to and even met, they have run to court. The club, which was declared relegated from elite football to First Division on August 2, 2018 by PLE COO Pat Vilakati during the organisation’s Annual General Assembly at Sigwaca House, filed an urgent application with the High Court yesterday. They are seeking among other things that the court suspends their opening league fixture against First Division rivals Tambankulu Callies on Sunday at the Prince of Wales Ground and most importantly, that their elite status be retained pending finalisation of their pending issue with the EFA. They had challenged the legitimacy of the league last season challenging its increase of teams from 12 to 14 when giants Mbabane Highlanders were due to be relegated for the second time in three seasons. Vovovo is also one of the clubs City cited as rendering the league illegitimate based on the fact that they were the third team with highest points by end of the season before the increase of elite clubs. The relegation and promotion rule in both elite and First Division is that the bottom two and top two teams get relegated and promoted respectively. This is also in City’s court papers where they also seek for the court to force the football structures, in particular the EFA to resolve this matter so they can appeal to other sporting bodies internationally, being the world football governing body, Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Court of Arbitration (CAS). Also, their elite status should be maintained until they lodge their appeal with these bodies and have the matter resolved by them. They argue that with the league kick off and fixtures pronounced by the PLE, it was crucial the matter be treated as one of urgency. The matter is set to be heard this morning. The EFA, who are the 1st Respondents and the PLE, who are 2nd Respondents, were also served with the court papers yesterday.
