Times Of Swaziland: WANDERERS PLAYERS OWED AUGUST SALARIES WANDERERS PLAYERS OWED AUGUST SALARIES ================================================================================ Themba Zwane on 12/09/2018 09:33:00 MBABANE – Old habits die hard. This adage holds true for Manzini Wanderers, whose players have not been paid their salaries for the month of August. As a result of the unpaid salaries, some of the players have shunned the club’s training sessions since last week. An informed source within the club told the Times Sports Desk that some of the players only returned to training last night at the Voctim sports ground. “The players refused to attend training because of the unresolved issues of signing-on-fees and salaries,” the source said. The hub giants face Green Mamba in the MTN League Grand Opening on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium. “It will be a serious challenge on Sunday when they play against Green Mamba because they are not prepared for the game, the players were not present at training the whole of last week,” said a source. According to sources, the national supporters committee held a meeting last Saturday morning at Manzini Wanderers offices, where they deliberated on a way forward. It has been gathered that a resolution to form a task team was made. “The Task Team was assigned to visit all three directors and advise them to resign from office as they have clearly failed to manage the team,” the source said. The Times Sports desk also learnt that the supporters committee was unsatisfied in the manner in which the current directors handled finances of the maroon and white outfit. Chairman of the National Supporters’ Committee Majayivane Dlamini confirmed the meeting last Saturday but highlighted that he could not be present as he had other commitments. He asked not to comment on the issue of a task team alleged to have been sent to advise the current directors to vacate office immediately. Dlamini also confirmed that South Africa-based businessman Mehluli Nhlengetfwa pumped-in a sum of E275 000 to run team. He said he has received calls from seniors of the club, requesting him to pay the players’ due salaries. “We have frozen this money, I will not pay the players, not at least after the issue of Nhlengetfwa taking over as a director has been sorted,” said Dlamini. “The players have not been paid and they cannot prepare well for the Green Mamba game as I am told some practice at VOCTIM,” he said.
