Times Of Swaziland: SHISELWENI FA’S E36 000 DVULADVULA! SHISELWENI FA’S E36 000 DVULADVULA! ================================================================================ BY LWAZI DLAMINI on 05/09/2018 05:20:00 Sports Editor NHLANGANO – Money is indeed the root of all evil. This adage holds true as teams under the Shiselweni Regional Football Association (SRFA) are up in arms with the region’s Normalising Committee headed by Mlimi Mamba over a payment of E36 000 ‘honorarium’ allowance to the Committee as reflected in the Income and Expenditure final report for 2018. According to the Macmillan English dictionary for advanced learners – New edition - an ‘honorarium’ allowance is ‘an amount of money that someone receives for work that would normally not be paid’. Explaining the first-of-its-kind bonus to the membership during the Annual General Meeting held last month, the Executive Committee Treasurer, Aaron Mhlanga, said the ‘honorarium’ allowance was a bonus for what it termed ‘good work they had done for the Shiselweni Region and honouring the Committee’. This revelation, which appears in the financial report, drew the ire of the teams who questioned why the Executive Committee had opted to reward themselves a bonus when they had also claimed a sum of E44 940 as ‘Executive Allowance and Transport’. An informed source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Times Sports Desk that the issue of the honorarium allowance was a pain in the posterior and, as a result, they had since resolved to write a petition to the FA calling for dissolution of the Normalising Committee. “How can an Executive Committee award themselves allowances yet they claim sitting and travelling allowances and further what it is that they have done when we have been losing sponsors in the region since the legitimate association was kicked out?’’ wondered our deep throat in the affairs of the Shiselweni Regional Football Association. The source said worse, the committee had reported a surplus of E81 981 but still went ahead to increase the player’s registration from E20 to E50 per player.
