Times Of Swaziland: BIG COMPANIES MUST SPONSOR CLUBS – HORTON BIG COMPANIES MUST SPONSOR CLUBS – HORTON ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 05/09/2018 05:19:00 MBABANE – Big companies must sponsor football clubs – and it must be written in black and white. At least that is what Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive Committee member and Hub Sundowns’ boss Steve Horton would like to see happen in the near future. Horton is currently in running for a seat in Parliament under Manzini North. “This country needs a law that will see these giant companies come on board and take over the football teams. It is law in Zambia and it’s working for their football, as we know Zesco is under their electricity company. “This will take away the financial burden from teams. It’s so sad to see big clubs like Wanderers struggling when they have a huge following. These companies can do a lot in moving our football to professionalism,” he said. He envisaged such a law would even see RSSC return to football. “If I make it in this election, I will canvass for this law. Also, it’s true and obvious we need a bigger and better stadium but currently government is going through tough economic times. I’m certain government wants to have one soon and will eventually have it once finances were stable,” he said. He said a new stadium would also be a great boost for the country especially because teams did not afford to have their own. Some of the local companies sponsoring elite sides are Eswatini Mobile and Inyatsi Construction. Eswatini Mobile supports Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers, while Inyatsi is with Mbabane Swallows. RSSC used to finance the now defunct RSSC United.
