IT’S E400 000 FOR MTN  KHEMANI ROAD CLASSIC

EZULWINI – MTN Eswatini’s partnership with Khemani Cycling Club is match
made in heaven.
The giant mobile company pumped in  a whopping  E400 000 towards the sixth
instalment of the MTN Khemani Road Classic, which was launched last night at
Mahlalekhukhwini House in Ezulwini.  For the first time, the race will be moved
from Mankayane to Croydon, which is situated outside Madlengempisi.
The sponsorship remains the highest in road races in the country despite a
decrease of about E40 000 as compared to the past year.
MTN CEO Ambrose Dlamini announced the new package during a brief launch attended
by guests, who were led by Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs
Undersecretary Nhlanhla Motsa. He said the company was getting value out of the
sponsorship.
“While MTN has its own corporate social investment (CSI) programmes, there is
additional mileage derived from MTN Khemani’s CSI,” he said.
Dlamini encouraged more youngsters and women to join the race.
MTN Khemani Club Secretary Muzi Dlamini celebrated the continued partnership, as
the proceeds from the race benefitted the needy.
“We’re happy to announce that 12 professional teams including three ladies
teams, will take part in the race this year.
“We have teams from South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Uganda.
“Not only are we grateful for MTN’s continued support over the years in
making MTN Khemani Classic an international event, but also to our prospective
water points sponsors who ensure adequate hydration for the cyclists,” he
said.
Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcampahalala,
through representative, Motsa, said he believed the race would continue to
impact as many lives as possible, as it continued to grow.
Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA) CEO, Sydney
Simelane was among the guests witnessing yesterday’s festivities.
