BRUCE GAMA WINS JM  BUSHA SENIORS TOURNEY

EZULWINI – Tennis senior player Bruce Gama defeated Thulani Gina in the JM
Busha Seniors Open tournament played on Saturday at Ezulwini courts.
Gama won 7-5 as only one set was played in the finals due to darkness. Gama came
from behind to beat Gina who started well, leading 5-3 only to miss towards the
end of the match. Gama took home the lucrative of E3 000 first prize while Gina
received E2 000.
The inaugural tournament was sponsored to the tune of E10 000 by JM Busha 54
races. With the tournament, the organisation was celebrating unity and peace in
Africa and also hosted a golf tournament and a half marathon.
A total of 22 players took part in the tournament, including some juniors.
Swaziland National Tennis Association (SNTA) President Maxwell Jele said the
players showed hunger that they have been missing action.
“We are happy with the attendance and the standard of play was good. We have
to apply the rules and regulations as they are and that is why some games were a
walkover as players showed up way after the 15 minutes waiting period,” he
said.
Jele thanked JM Busha for the sponsorship and he invited more companies to also
show support such as by sponsoring some tournament. The Swaziland Building
Society (SBS) is currently the main sponsors for tennis in the country.
