Times Of Swaziland: ‘XAVI’ AT SA 1ST DIVISION SIDE STELLENBOSCH FC ‘XAVI’ AT SA 1ST DIVISION SIDE STELLENBOSCH FC ================================================================================ BY ASHMOND NZIMA on 06/07/2018 05:32:00 MBABANE – Former Swazi international Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo is in Cape Town on a two-week assessment. The Green Mamba winger is being assessed by South Africa’s National First Division side Stellenbosch FC (formerly Vasco Da Gama) since Monday. He jetted out to Cape Town on invitation by the side. Green Mamba CEO Thami Phakathi confirmed that the player was currently outside the country. “We’ll wait for a report after the assessment and then we’ll take it from there,” he said. Stellenbosch General Manager Garth Le Roux said the player was doing well at the moment, but it was still too early to make a conclusion. “We’ll be able to give more feedback later next week,” he said. The former Sihlangu winger has spent the last two seasons at Congolese giants AS Vita. He returned to the country during the second round of the 2017/18 campaign and joined the green and white ensemble. Meanwhile, Stellenbosch were established in 2016. They used to be called Vasco Da Gama until their relocation to Stellenbosch that year. They once played in the Absa Premiership under the old banner and were relegated in the 2010-11 season. In the 2017/18 season, they finished ranked eighth in the 16-team South Africa’s National First Division League.
