Times Of Swaziland: ‘I NEVER TALKED TO WITBANK SPURS’ ‘I NEVER TALKED TO WITBANK SPURS’ ================================================================================ BY MTHUNZI MAZIYA on 06/07/2018 05:31:00 MBABANE – Green Mamba and Sihlangu’s assistant coach Caleb Ngwenya has quashed reports that he signed for South Africa’s National First Division side, Witbank Spurs. Spurs made an announcement on Kick Off website last week through their Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Freddy Mapulane, that Ngwenya was their new head coach. In a new report on the same website yesterday, Mapulane somersaulted to say that Ngwenya had declined the position and Spurs had settled for Zimbabwean coach Raham Kumbo. Contacted for comment yesterday, Ngwenya said the reports were inaccurate. “This is news to me. Not once have I received a call from them, and I don’t know where this information is coming from. I am not even aware that they ever had an interest in my services,” he said. Asked by Kick Off to clarify his position regarding Ngwenya, Mapulane said the Sihlangu assistant coach was no longer available. “I think he got a better offer somewhere, so we had to search for a replacement, because our aim is to start the preseason with a coach,” he said. Meanwhile, Ngwenya said he was happy at Green Mamba, and had never sought to leave for another team. He said he suspects that this could have been a publicity stunt by the South African team. “We are busy preparing for preseason at the moment and our aim is to improve on our form from last season,” he said.
