That is Ntokozo Dlamini of the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF), who cruised to victory in the KwaMagogo 10km Legacy run/walk yesterday in Manzini. The 29-year-old finished on 28:50 minutes ahead of Swazi Slojos’ Sikhumbuzo Sihlongonyane. The latter clocked 28:51 minutes, while third was South Africa’s Nedbank runner Sibusiso Kubheka on 29:21 minutes. The race, attended by over 500 people, started at the Pandrey Park and went through the bypass road in Manzini (Mavuso Sports Centre), Coates Valley, Bosco and back to the park. Dlamini took home the first prize of E1 500, while Sihlongonyane pocketed E1 000 with Kubheka receiving E800. Fourth and fifth finishers in Melusi Sihlongonyane and Veli Dlamini, who are both from USDF, received E400 and E250, respectively. Sihlongonyane was the winner in 2017 with a time of 29:15 minutes and this time around his performance dropped. Dlamini, who won the race for the first time, said it was not a tough race and he was able to maintain his pace from start to finish. “I was well-prepared for the race and the South Africans gave us competition. Now my focus will be on the JM Busha race billed for July 7,” he said. In the ladies category, another USDF athlete Khanyisile Mkhatshwa was the queen of the road. She finished first on 37:29 minutes, while second placed was Royal Eswatini Police Service’s (REPS) Winile Mnisi, who clocked 38:13 minutes. Nozipho Sibandze of USDF completed the list of podium finishers with a time of 38:28 minutes. Athletics Association of Swaziland (AAS) President Gideon Mthembu said the full results were to be released last night.
