MANZINI – It was a comedy of football errors as Mbabane and Manzini pastors
curtain- raised for Saturday’s Bible Society Cup.
The second edition of the Bible Society initiative was won by Manzini Wanderers,
beating cross town rivals Manzini Sundowns 2-0 courtesy of strikes from either
side of the half by the impressive Ali Matse and Congolese wing wizard Mike
Dombo.
Mbabane pastors came from behind to win the curtain raiser 5-3 after penalty
shoot-outs. It was entertainment galore at the Mavuso Sports Centre with Pastor
Sikhumbuzo Shongwe of Phumlacashi, a late second half substitute, sending the
over 3 000 in attendance into frenzy with silky skills.
Pastor Hlatshwako, the livewire of Manzini, put his team ahead from the spot
kick before Pastor Simon Nhlengetfwa cancelled it out with a 25-yard screamer to
send the game into penalty shoot-outs. Premier League Match Commissioner Esrom
Dlamini missed the first spot kick for Mbabane but the men of God from the
capital city finally won the match.
