Times Of Swaziland: ‘PAPI’ ON ‘BIRDS’ RADAR ‘PAPI’ ON ‘BIRDS’ RADAR ================================================================================ BY ASHMOND NZIMA on 17/04/2018 01:03:00 MBABANE – Former Matsapha United industrious midfielder Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze is linked with a surprise switch to giants Mbabane Swallows. The player, who is now contracted to Premier League-bound Mbabane Citizens, is said to be wanted by Swallows on a loan move for their CAF Champions League campaign. The red and white outfit begin their journey in the group stages of the Africa’s premier club competition when they visit Zambia’s Zesco on May 5. Reports suggest plans to bring ‘Papi’ on board are already underway. The latter has since hit top form again. He starred in his new team’s 3-0 win over Madlenya at Prince of Wales Ground on Saturday. One of the Citizens officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the bid, but said it was yet to be made official. One of the Directors at Citizens, Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane, said he was yet to learn about the interest in the player. The player said he was yet to be approached by the red and white ensemble, only expressing his delight in playing his number one sport. Swallows General Manager Sandile Zwane said he was out of the country in the past few days, saying he could only shed light on the issue after getting an update on team issues from other officials late yesterday. Reports had further suggested that Manzini Wanderers talisman Aladeon Kola was targeted for the CAF games, but the talks reportedly fell through the ropes.
