Times Of Swaziland: ‘CRACKS’ ON ‘BIRDS’ ‘NKOMISHI’ ‘CRACKS’ ON ‘BIRDS’ ‘NKOMISHI’ ================================================================================ BY NTOKOZO MAGONGO on 14/02/2018 00:50:00 MBABANE – Fans who had questioned Mbabane Swallows’ decision to bench first choice goalkeeper, Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza lately, have been answered. The dependable shot-stopper has been nursing a lengthy injury. Four games on the trot, he has been a benchwarmer while former Manzini Sundowns keeper Sandanezwe Mathabela has been the man holding the fort at the Swallows’ last line of defence. Ginindza is always seen on the team’s bench but remains an unused substitute. He has missed high profile games which on a normal day, he is the obvious first choice. Those games include Ingwenyama Cup quarter-finals and semi-finals against Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Citizens MTN Premier League match against Wanderers and the CAF Champions League first leg match against Bantu FC in Lesotho. A source close to the matter said Ginindza suffered the ankle injury towards the end of last year and since then, he has been warming the bench as he is not 100 per cent fit. The source said he was getting better as he was now training full time with the club. “He is likely to be fit for a match after a month. This has been a major blow for Swallows as him and Sandanezwe Mathabela are the only goalkeepers registered with the club,” said the source. Swallows General Manager Sandile Zwane said Ginindza was now close to full recovery as he had joined the team in full training in the past two weeks. “We have two good goalkeepers and they are both doing a wonderful job between the goal posts. The team is not rushing him because it has faith in Sandanezwe and we are happy with his performance. It is a healthy position for the team to have two high quality goalkeepers,” Zwane said. Mathabela has only conceded two goals against Bantu FC in the CAF Champions League preliminary first leg match on Sunday at Setsoto Stadium.
