Citizens will strike it rich after reaching the Ingwenyama Cup semi-finals as they will take home E235 000 in total; for reaching the semi-finals (E200 000), National First Division League best finisher (E30 000) and national first division league participation fee (E5 000). The Mbabane based side were beaten 0-3 by the defending champions Mbabane Swallows, who are going to play their third final since the tournament was launched three years ago. They had won the two past edition of the tournament. Swallows play police side in the finals after beating Young Buffaloes 1-0 in the semi-finals played on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium. Buffaloes, who also lost 0-1 to police side Royal Leopard, will receive E200 000 for reaching the semi-finals. Citizens conceded quick goals against Mbabane Swallows with the first one in the fifth minute and the second at the half-hour mark and early stages of the second half. Citizens Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sifiso Hlatshwako said the results were not what they were hoping for. “We wanted to win the game at all costs and we were unlucky. We conceded early goals and they gained confidence and won the game. Our target was to win the match and go to the finals because we believe we were capable of doing that,” he said. Hlatshwako said the team was yet to meet yesterday evening and incentives for the players is part of the agenda. The champions between Swallows and Royal Leopard will take home the lucrative E1.2 million while the runner up will receive E500 000.
