Times Of Swaziland: ‘SMOOTHIES’ CHOOSES PIRATES OVER ‘WESLIANS’ ‘SMOOTHIES’ CHOOSES PIRATES OVER ‘WESLIANS’ ================================================================================ BY SABELO GWEBU on 03/02/2018 00:54:00 MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders striker Mphucuko ‘Smoothies’ Dlamini has joined Moneni Pirates. After weeks of speculation over his immediate future, ‘Smoothies’ has chosen the ‘Buccaneers’ over Manzini Wanderers where he spent the week training. The transfer was delayed by the fact that Highlanders were not willing to release the diminutive forward on a permanent deal, preferring a loan move for the remainder of the season. ‘Smoothies’ signed a two-year contract at the beginning of the season which was keeping him at the ‘Bull’s kraal until June 2019. Pirates were keen to strike a deal with Highlanders after losing two key players in the ending Janaury transfer window. Fanelo ‘Order’ Mamba has joined army side Young Buffaloes while Junior Magagula is close to a switch to Royal Leopard. “It’s a done deal now. I wanted to leave permanently but I don’t know how the negotiations have fared- all I know is that I’m now registered with Pirates,” Smoothies, who has struggled with game time under South Africa-born Highlanders coach Mlungisi ‘Professor’, Ngubane said. Highlanders Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini is on record saying ‘Smoothies’ would only be released on loan. Also handing in a transfer request at Highlanders was midfielder Bongani ‘Chicken’ Sibandze who has joined Tinyosi while the duo of goalkeeper Isaac Asamoah and combative midfielder Gabrial Goshen were put on transfer.
