That is Cape Town-based dart pundit, Clifford ‘Mr Cool’ Stradling, who masterminded his way to win the E10 000 at stake for the Malkerns Open Darts tournament. ‘Mr Cool’ as he is affectionately known, beat 13 other players who participated in the 2-day tournament played at Malkerns Country Club on Saturday and Sunday. He managed to beat Rajan Odaya 5-2 in the singles semi-finals to book his way to the final spot and eventually clinching the title after brushing aside Earl Pentolfe. The latter cruised to the finals after getting the better of Jerry Bezuidenhout, where he emerged the winner with a score of 5-3. In the doubles semi-finals category, the pair of Clifford Straddling and Earl Pentolfe annihilated Hannes Van Heerden and Paul Jolly 5-0. The former went on to win the tournament at the expense of Rajan Odaya and Jerry Govender, and the final score was 10-9. Mr ‘Cool’ pocketed E20 000 in prize monies as he both won the singles and doubles category. In the latter category, the champions won E20 000 and they had to share among themselves. Malkerns Darts Club PRO Mduduzi Masango said the games were a success. “The games went very well and we want to congratulate the winner, ‘Mr Cool’, and others who got prizes,” Masango said.
