The Swim Lab athlete is currently training to qualify for the Summer Youth Olympic Games, 2018 ANOCA Youth Games billed for Algeria and the Region V Games to be held in Gaborone, Botswana. The Youth Olympics Games are billed for Buenos Alres, Argentina. Young will have a busy schedule next year, as she is also trying to qualify for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Her coach at Swim Lab Welcome Nhlabatsi said since they started the season, every competition was used as a qualifier. She is among the 14 candidates going for the sports star of the year after her sterling performance in the past three years. She holds a national record and personal best of 1:16:37s in 100m backstroke. “We are working hard at training and we are aware that there are lots of competitions that are coming next year where she is expected to compete effectively. In December she will travel to Durban to try and qualify for international competitions being the Youth Olympics Games and the Commonwealth Games. Despite being a junior, Young recently entered into the elite squad. She had represented the country two times in the FINA World Championships with the latest being last year in Budapest, Hungary.
