Times Of Swaziland: SIHLANGU DIG AN ELEPHANT’S GRAVE WITH A TAKEAWAY FORK SIHLANGU DIG AN ELEPHANT’S GRAVE WITH A TAKEAWAY FORK ================================================================================ BY LWAZI DLAMINI on 17/07/2017 08:24:00 LOBAMBA – It was an abject performance that was akin to trying to dig an elephant’s grave using a takeaway dish fork. Catastrophic! Bamboozled! Disastrous! Shameful! Any of these adjectives do not come anywhere near describing the worst performance by the national team, Sihlangu since they last lost a game at home – a 0-1 defeat to Angola in 2012 in the Total Championships of African Nations (CHAN) 2014 qualifiers. For prolonged periods of time, as the visiting Zambia’s Chipolopolo dictated the tempo, slicing through the porous-as-sieve Sihlangu defence, it did look like the visitors were about the repeat the mind-numbing 10-2 win over Swaziland achieved on February 5, 1978. The memorable win still ranks as ‘Chipolopolo’ biggest win on the international scene. With nine Mbabane Swallows players on the starting line-up, who have not had a break since August last year, Sihlangu looked jaded, out of depth and lacked inventiveness to match the tactically superior, quick-thinking Zambians who outfoxed, out-manoeuvred, outplayed and out-thought the listless Pieter De Jongh squad far more than the scoreline suggests. Small wonder the dejected Sihlangu fans chanted the name of former head coach, Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga at the sound of final whistle after the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) absurdly failed to renew his contract under strange circumstances. This is how De Jongh’s Eleven miserable men fared in yesterday’s 4-0 massacre by the sleek Zambians.
