FA PRAISES SWALLOWS’ HEROIC PERFORMANCE IN CAF

MBABANE – The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) has described
Mbabane Swallows’ good run in the CAF Confederations Cup as ‘good for the
country’.
The ‘Birds’ cruised to a 3-1 aggregate win over Tanzania’s Azam to reach
the play-off stage of the CAF Confederations Cup 2017. The NFAS through
Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said the wins were showing the
improvement in terms of playing.
“The NFAS congratulates Mbabane Swallows FC for qualifying to the next round
of the Total CAF Confederations Cup, after eliminating Azam FC from Tanzania.
The NFAS is quite aware that the success of Mbabane Swallows FC is very good for
the country as the players get more international exposure, which will have a
positive impact on the national team as the very same players end up
representing the country at national team level,” Radebe said.
“Their success markets our football brand and the country to the outside
world. As Mbabane Swallows continue to invade other shores of Africa, the NFAS
appeals to the nation, especially the private sector, to support them as they
raise the country’s flag. This is so because a lot of expenses will be
incurred as the club prepares for the two-legged encounter, which will be a
decider for the club in as far as qualifying for the group phase is concerned,
which can be a huge achievement for local football,” he said.
Meanwhile, former Match Commissioner James Fakudze said the country was now
known in the world with the good performances displayed by the National team,
Sihlangu and Mbabane Swallows.
“The working relationship between the NFAS and the PLS is working wonders for
the country. The sponsors have also played a vital role in improving the
standard of the game and congratulations to Swallows. I believe in the near
future we will continue to shine because I can tell that the NFAS and PLS are
giving focus to development,” Fakudze said.
