E100 000 FINE FOR  MISBEHAVING TEAMS

EZULWINI – The Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) is introducing stiffer fines
of up to E100 000 to cub bad behaviour from teams.
The organisation’s Chairman Victor Gamedze said recent offenders Mbabane
Swallows and Young Buffaloes will fry as they set the tone.
He said the executive has collectively resolved that harsh punishments be handed
to offending clubs, officials and fans which include fines of up to E100 000 to
be paid in seven days after the National Football Association of Swaziland
(NFAS) Disciplinary Committee (DC) ruling.
He said failure to comply will result in teams being forced to play behind
closed doors and further be expected to pay the PLS for lost revenue. Gamedze
was speaking during yesterday’s MTN League ‘inside launch’ at
Mahlalekhikhini House, MTN Headquarters in Ezulwini yesterday afternoon.

Swallows and Buffaloes face over E100 000 in fines each if found guilty by the
NFAS DC in last night’s hearings following last Saturday’s violence that
tarnished not just the name of the sponsor but brought football into disrepute.
Gamedze reckoned from the amendments, some teams will cease to exist as the
fines will be bad.
“PLS is not pleased with the bad behaviour that brings football into shame. We
have witnessed fans attack teams in dressing rooms and it is high time all
stakeholders from sponsors, clubs, referees and fans did introspection,” he
said.
Gamedze said the law will not only focus on clubs but will be across the board.
