COACHES  WANT MBAYA,  ‘SHANA’  STOPPED

MAGONGO – The country’s coaches association has implored the FA to stop the
appointment of Lwazi ‘Shana’ Maziya and Mbaya Katala as assistant coaches.
Shana was unveiled alongside Elias Tsabalaka as assistants to new coach Kenny
Ndlazi on Saturday, while Katala was appointed assistant coach at Mbabane
Highlanders.
In a statement sent to the media and copied to the FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu
and Technical Director Boy ‘Bizzah’ Mkhonta, the Swaziland Football Coaches
Association (SFCA) said it was very embarrassing for the teams to go public on
the appointment of unqualified players as coaches. SFCA Chairman Anthony Mdluli
strongly rebuked the decision by the teams and called for the revocation of
their appointments. They said coaches paid a lot of money to attend to the
various courses provided by the FA.
“This is total mockery of the NFAS Coach Education Programmes and the Club
Licensing. We strongly rebuke such behaviour by the clubs and this is taking the
game backwards. We thus advise, if true, that the appointment of Shana Maziya
and Mbaya at Highlanders be revoked.
While it is the prerogative right for the club to choose coaches, we do not
expected them to appoint them before going to class,” reads the statement.
He said Club Licensing stipulates that coaches and assistants in both National
First Division and Premier League should have CAF B Licence Certificate, be
members of SFCA and should have attended the recent workshop for coaches for the
season review.
FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu said while he had not yet seen the statement, his
association had met teams last week to brief them on registration and licensing
of coaches.
