GOV PUMPS OVER E5M  TO KING’S SUPER CUP

MBABANE – The Ministry of Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs has been given E5.8
million by government to help cushion the costs of the much anticipated King’s
Super Cup.
This is the historical tournament which is scheduled for July 18 at Somhlolo
National Stadium and will feature Royal Leopard against Orlando Pirates and
Mbabane Swallows against ABSA Premiership champions Kaizer Chiefs.
The money was derived from coffers of various ministries and directed to the
ministry headed by David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala.
This came as result of a memo that was circulated to the ministries after
Ngcamphalala’s ministry approached government to request for assistance.
The ministry will, however, have to reimburse the other ministries after the
tournament has ended. Government Spokesperson Percy Simelane confirmed this
development, and while sources close to the matter divulged that it was more
than the above-mentioned amount, he flatly denied such claims.

“According to the official information I have, it is E5.8 million that has
been re-allocated to the Sports Ministry from the various ministries to help it
host the games. Every cent of it will be refunded by the Sport Ministry after
the tournament.”
Meanwhile, Simelane further clarified that these funds would not be used to
cater for the ongoing rehabilitation of the venue.
He said this was a responsibility that solely rested on the shoulders of the
Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
Meanwhile, tickets to the King’s Super Cup will soon be availed and the price
is E250 for a general ticket and E500 for VIP.
They will be sold at Shoprite stores countrywide and Swaziland will get first
preference.
15 000 people are expected to grace the event and watch the games live at the
arena while more are expected to watch it at the fan parks to be set up at the
Prince of Wales and the Mavuso Sports and Exhibition Centre.
