Times Of Swaziland: SOME ‘COMRADES’ DID NOT LIKE THULANI - WIFE SOME ‘COMRADES’ DID NOT LIKE THULANI - WIFE ================================================================================ Nhlanganiso Mkhonta on 06/02/2023 08:40:00 MBABANE – The late Human Rights Lawyer Thulani Maseko’s wife Tanele, claims some ‘comrades’ did not like her husband. Tanele was speaking during her husband’s memorial service held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday. She told the attendees who comprised of members of different political formations, pastors and others, that she actually did not want to attend the memorial. She stated that some of the ‘comrades’ insulted her husband. “Deep down in my heart, I feel like some ‘comrades’ here are happy that Thulani is no more,” she said. Tanele said the night before the service, she debated with herself on whether to attend it or not. She said the debate was on whether she really wanted to be part of the celebration and if she really wanted to face the people who wanted nothing to do with Thulani. She said in the morning, a voice which felt like that of her husband’s came to her whispering, telling her to go. She said the voice said to her;“hamba sweety vele batongetfuka.” She said upon hearing that voice, she thanked God because Thulani was not only her husband but was also her leader. Tanele said Thulani was an honest man. She noted that together with her late husband, they would debate issues, disagree on others but he never insulted her or anyone for that matter. She stated that some organisations did not recognise her husband’s work and some were formed to shoot down the Multi-Stakeholder Forum (MSF). “Some of the organisations here did not want anything to do with Thulani, but he mastered all,” she said. Hurt Tanele said what hurt her the most was that the status quo understood Thulani more than them. She said the country’s authorities knew Thulani more than them in the mass democratic movement (MDM). She said nonetheless, people in the MDM were busy fighting, bickering and stepping over Thulani, as he was trying to forge a way forward for emaSwati. Tanele said what gave her peace was that despite the insults hurled towards him; Thulani loved and appreciated the work of those in the MDM.
