Times Of Swaziland: PUBLIC TRANSPORT AVAILABLE - OPERATORS PUBLIC TRANSPORT AVAILABLE - OPERATORS ================================================================================ Sibusiso Zwane on 27/07/2022 08:02:00 MANZINI – SWATCAWU and EKABAWU have allayed fears that public transport might not be available today. SWATCAWU stands for Swaziland Transport, Communication and Allied Workers Union, while EKABAWU stands for Eswatini Kombi and Buses Workers Allied Union. Following the petition delivery march which is planned by TUCOSWA, there were messages and voice notes which circulated on social media platforms suggesting that due to the rising cost of essential goods in the country, public transport workers wanted to stage a nationwide shutdown by downing tools. One of the messages even suggested that the shutdown would run for three days – from today until Friday. However, SWATCAWU Secretary General, Sticks Nkambule said even though the leaders of the organisation would be part of the TUCOSWA protest action, transport would be available. Normal On the same note, EKABAWU President, Mcolisi Fakudze, said today would be a normal working day for their members. He said they had seen the messages that were circulated on social media platforms, but he stated that no one had approached them. In that regard, he said they supposed that the authors of the messages were people who wanted to use public transport workers to push their agenda, which they do not know. He emphasised that so far, there was nothing which they were discussing that could in one way or the other affect the operations of the public transport industry, especially kombis and buses.
