Times Of Swaziland: HEALTH MINISTER, TEAM KICKED OUT OF PARLIAMENT HEALTH MINISTER, TEAM KICKED OUT OF PARLIAMENT ================================================================================ BY SIBONGILE SUKATI on 25/02/2020 01:11:00 LOBAMBA - It wasn’t a pleasant morning for the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi and her team yesterday when they were kicked out of Parliament. This was when the ministry was supposed to appear before the House of Assembly Portfolio Committee to debate the annual budget performance report. The committee is chaired by Maseyisini MP Mduduzi ‘Small Joe’ Dlamini. The bone of contention was that the ministry had only availed the performance report yesterday morning and therefore the MPs did not have time to read and familiarise themselves with it. The sitting was scheduled for 9am, but the committee first held a caucus to discuss the ministry’s fate. First to raise the matter was Sithobela MP Bhekitje Dlamini, who asked the chair if they were going to debate the minister’s report or preamble. “I ask this because the report has about 105 pages which we have to read yet we were only given the report a few minutes ago,” said the MP. Secure Mhlangatane MP Madala Mhlanga also supported his colleague, stating that he had even made calls over the weekend to try and secure the report. Khubuta MP Mduduzi Mabuza wondered why they had not been given the report on time because he had been informed that they were delivered in Parliament last Friday. The report was supposed to be distributed to the MPs last week Wednesday when it was tabled by Nkosi. This was highlighted by Ndzingeni MP Lutfo Dlamini who also submitted that he had also spent the weekend looking for the report. However, two other MPs said they had received the report on time, but lost out in the voting process when it was asked if the MPs should continue with the sitting. In response, the minister apologised for not bringing the report on time and said there was simply no excuse. The chairperson then postponed the sitting to next week Monday, and told the ministry officials that they would be notified if there were any changes. It would seem the Health ministry was the unlucky one as the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs also distributed its report yesterday, but they were not kicked out.
