ANOTHER WIN-A-CAR CONTROVERSY

PIGG’S PEAK – When it comes to win-a-car raffle draws, it is safe to say
emaSwati never learn.
Once again, members of the public, just like in the past, participated in a
win-a-car competition never materialised on the stated date.
Members of the public who participated in a Pigg’s Peak ‘car raffle draw’
competition are furious that despite that the draw should have taken place on
December 21, 2019, this has not happened.
The competition is said to have been conducted by a company known as Biazo Car
Dealers.
The company is said to have engaged certain individuals to sell the tickets to
members of the public.
According to information obtained from the participants, who are now furious,
the draw was supposed to have taken place on December 21, 2019.

A poster advertising the raffle draw read, ‘Biazo Car Dealers presents
Pigg’s Peak Car Raffle Draw set for December 2019.
The keys could be yours!!!” the poster read.
Each raffle ticket was sold at E25.
On the poster was a photo of a Mazda Demeo hatchback model.
The address of the company, according to the post was ‘Office No. 14 Water
Services Complex’.
Just like any competition, the poster also stated the terms and conditions, such
as that one needed to fill in a form stating their identity number (ID), phone
number, number of the ticket and making sure they did not lose their tickets.
Purchased
For this reason, participants such as Mphumelelo Maziya held on to their tickets
which they had purchased.
Maziya is one of the participants who were not pleased with the outcome as he
claimed to have purchased 53 tickets.
This meant that he spent E1 325.
Maziya said he was bitter that the draw was supposed to have taken place in
December but the date had come and gone and nothing positive has been
communicated to them.
Maziya said since he was advised that he had the most tickets, he felt that he
stood a better chance to win the car.
He said no one else bought more tickets than him, according to his knowledge.
Maziya is a barber.
“I could have used this money to buy shoes and uniforms for my children.
Instead, I decided to take a chance and enter the competition,” he said.
He said it was unfair that he was forced to wait long for the raffle draw to be
conducted.
Maziya also said he was now beginning to doubt if the raffle draw would really
take place.
He also expressed concern that he was no longer able to locate the physical
address of the company.
Claimed
“I have been to the Water Services Complex where they claimed to be based but
they are not there,” he claimed. He further said he was now being told that
they were based in Mbabane as well as Manzini, but he did not believe this.
More participants complained about the raffle draw but they did not want to
speak on record.
Another, who claimed to have bought only one ticket, said he did not mind losing
the money but said as a matter of principle, he wanted to know what was going
on.
“They should tell us whether the raffle draw will go ahead or not,” said the
participant.
However, no draw was ever conducted.
