The minister articulated this during the House of Assembly Portfolio Committee meeting, which was held at Royal Swazi Convention Centre yesterday. The minister was being officially introduced to parastatals’ CEOs, the ministry’s stakeholders and employees, who explained their line of work in their different departments. Clerk to Parliament Ndvuna Dlamini was also part of the meeting. “I love that the ICT Ministry has welcomed me with open arms. I know how difficult it would be to work with a member of the royal family, perhaps one who is considered reserved, maybe aloof; but I can imagine the difficulty that it is to work with us,” the minister alluded. She further extended her appreciation to MP Macford Sibandze, who is the Chairperson of the ICT portfolio committee with his experience in government and the media, for understanding her beyond the political sphere. The minister added that they had known each other from the arts background of music which she had a passion for. She expressed her gratitude for the oversight role that Parliament played in ensuring that the budget debate went smoothly without any glitches. She said with the eloquent, articulate and meticulous chairperson, she had no doubt that it was the only way the budget would go. In addition, she acknowledged the media for attending and patiently waiting for the ministry while they prepared their presentation before the meeting. She highlighted that the ministry’s mission which was to provide a conducive policy environment accessible to information, communication and technology’s infrastructure and quality services in order to eradicate information poverty through innovation and leveraging best international practices and values of ICT. She added that the vision was also to be among world leaders in providing an enabling environment for ICT. She said this was established in Gazette No. 15 of 2009 of the Constitution of Eswatini.
