PASTOR HUBBY IMPREGNATED MARRIED CONGREGANT – WIFE

SITEKI – The marriage of a prominent local pastor is on the rocks following
that his wife has filed for divorce.
Thomson Mfanimpela Hlanze, who is also a teacher at Siteki Nazarene Primary
School, has been served with divorce papers by lawyers of his wife, Futhi
Brightness Hlanze (nee Dlamini).
The couple wedded through civil rites on July 29, 2000 at KaLanga in Siteki but
the wife now wants out of the marriage.
In the divorce papers filed at the Siteki Magistrates Court, Futhi cites
adultery as a ground for the divorce action. “The defendant is currently in an
adulterous relationship with an adult married Swazi female of Lukhula to whom he
witnessed and blessed her wedding (to her husband) as he was their pastor,”
alleges Futhi in the court papers.
She alleged to the court, through the divorce papers, that her husband (pastor)
had fathered a child out of wedlock with the married church member, with whom
they are in an adulterous relationship. “This is despite numerous attempts
from her (female church member) husband which included verbal and physical
confrontation, even at the defendant’s current workplace,” Futhi alleged in
her particulars of claim.
She further alleged that during the course of the marriage, her husband (pastor)
would confess to having adulterous affairs. “He (pastor) continually and
persistently ignored to show affection, respect and care to the
plaintiff...stating that he (had) no affection to the plaintiff in the process
and further expressed his desire to settle with somebody else,” further read
the wife’s court papers.
The wife further submitted, through the court papers, that conjugal rights
‘had since seized’ between the two parties due to the breakdown of their
marriage.
As such, she submitted to the court that her prayers included a final decree of
divorce, custody of their minor child, forfeiture of the benefits from the
marriage and costs of suits. Pastor Hlanze’s attorneys have not yet filed
responding papers.
Meanwhile, when the matter appeared before Lubombo Principal Magistrate Dumisani
Magagula, attorneys for the wife applied for a trial date. “Trial is set for
Thursday,” stated the magistrate.
