Times Of Swaziland: SHONGWE THREATENED TO KILL VICTOR OVER SOCCER – CROWN SHONGWE THREATENED TO KILL VICTOR OVER SOCCER – CROWN ================================================================================ BY TIMES REPORTER on 11/09/2018 03:47:00 MBABANE – Sipho Shongwe is alleged to have told some people that he could shoot Victor Gamedze within minutes as he (Shongwe) complained about the way Gamedze handled the Premier League of Eswatini. This is contained in the indictment filed by the Crown yesterday, where it has outlined how Shongwe was allegedly linked to the murder of the prominent businessman and football administrator. Gamedze was the chairman of the then Premier League of Swaziland, now Premier League of Eswatini. The filing of the indictment means that the Crown is now ready to prosecute Shongwe. Gun According to the summary of evidence, while at SwaziBank (now Eswatini Development and Savings Bank), Gamedze allegedly disclosed to one of the witnesses that Shongwe had pointed a gun at him at a certain filling station. In the indictment, the Crown disclosed that there was evidence through various witnesses indicating that Shongwe allegedly stated that he would hire people from South Africa to shoot Gamedze. “The deceased (Gamedze) had also disclosed to one of the witnesses on December 27, 2017 that while at Oshoek he received threats from the accused that he (accused) had hired people to shoot him,” reads part of the indictment. Additional information, according to the Crown, would be furnished to the court in due course. It was further disclosed that exhibits in this matter had been taken to the Republic of South Africa for forensic analysis. “Further, due to the fact that this matter involves South African citizens, the Government of Eswatini has sought extradition of the two fugitives and the process is at an advanced stage,” highlighted the Crown. The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) also mentioned that a Mutual Legal Assistance Request had been forwarded to obtain more information or evidence. The Crown also narrated how the police carried out their investigations leading to the arrest of Shongwe. In the charge sheet, it is stated that Shongwe is facing a charge of murder.
