CRACKS AT PUDEMO? ================================================================================ BY NTOMBI MHLONGO on 12/07/2018 04:23:00 MBABANE – Is a serious division looming for the country’s proscribed political party, PUDEMO? This question arises following an alleged vote of no confidence which was passed on the current national executive committee (NEC), which is led by President Mario Masuku. Documents in this newspaper’s possession reveal that the various regions of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) met last Saturday in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga Province, where they analysed the current committee and came to the conclusion that it had failed to lead. According to the documents, the members who were in attendance detailed about eight failures of the current committee, after which they took the resolution to pass a vote of no confidence on it. The members allegedly agreed that an interim committee should be put in place to keep the fires burning until the next national congress was held. They further wrote a letter to Masuku, which this newspaper has a copy of, to inform him of their resolution. Detailing their concerns regarding the current NEC, the members noted that it had allegedly failed to convene a National General Council (NGC) from 2014 to 2018 as per constitutional dictates. “The NEC consistently failed, without reason, to convene the NGC, thereby preventing the movement from receiving and considering annual political, organisational and financial updates on progress made in the implementation of resolutions and programmes,” reads part of the statement in one of the documents. ...
