‘NEVER BEEN INSULTED  BY BLACK MAN BEFORE’

MBABANE – “He told us that he was angry because he had never been insulted
by a black man in his life.”
This was alleged by a police officer when giving evidence in the matter of a
white farmer who is accused of having shot and killed a man at or near Dalcrue
Farm in Malkerns.
Edmund Johannes De Beer of Umcenge Dairy Farm House, is alleged to have killed
Sipho Mbholwane Dlamini in September 2005. The matter is before Principal Judge
Qinisile Mabuza.
In his evidence in chief, Constable Vincent Fakudze told the court that on
September 5, 2009, he was on a night shift patrolling together with Constable
Msibi.  He narrated that while they were patrolling near Swazi Candles, they
received a radio message from Malkerns Police Station informing them that they
should proceed to Umcenge House as Dee Beer needed their help.
Constable Dlamini averred that after that they rushed to the scene and before
they arrived, while near Emcenge House by the gate, they met a man by the name
of Mbholwane Dlamini, riding a bicycle. Fakudze said he asked Mbholwane why he
was riding his bicycle during the night and he allegedly told him that he was
coming from a white man who took his cellphone and was refusing to bring it
back. According to the law enforcer, Mbholwane was in a questionable state of
sobriety. “We then proceeded to the house of Dee Beer and he told us that
there was a black man shouting at him at the gate and he told us that the man
was riding a bicycle,” submitted the police officer.
He said after that, they tried to explain to Dee Beer that the man he was
talking about looked drunk and they suspected his state of mind. According to
Constable Fakudze, they also promised Dee Beer that they would patrol the area
where his house was situated and that he must dial 999 if he suspected
something.
