‘WATCH OUT FOR KIDNAPPERS’

MATSAPHA- Since national elections are around the corner, parents are warned to
take extra care of their children, as it is feared candidate or supporters would
abduct them and use their organs for rituals.
A shocking incident occurred on Monday near Mobeni at about 6pm where a
nine-year-old boy was attacked by a couple, aboard a double cab Ford Ranger, one
of the new models. *Lihle, who attends school in one of the government schools
in the region, had been sent to Ruchi Wholesalers to buy a Feint and Margin
exercise book by his mother when the incident occurred.
Information gathered from the child’s mother, *Mumcy is that the child went to
the nearest store as it was nearer to where they resided, Mobeni. She said when
Lihle returned, it was discovered that he had bought the wrong exercise book.
“I requested him to return to the store and he was given a refund. He then
went to Shoprite, which is near Ruchi and eventually found the right one and
left the store.
“When he was attempting to cross the road near Parmalat to Mobeni, the Ford
Ranger stopped at the Stop sign nearby and a woman was driving. The man who was
seated in the passenger’s side was wearing blue overalls and he opened his
door, shouted and ordered my son to jump in,” Mumcy said.
She revealed that when the couple realised that the boy was getting suspicious,
they allegedly lowered their voices and said, ‘Gibela mfanawami, cela ugibele
siyokubeka ekhaya’- loosely translated, ‘Jump in my boy, please jump in so
we can drop you off at home.’
“He immediately panicked and started to walk fast. The car drove fast and
attempted to chase after him, while he was being grabbed by his clothing,
however, he managed to slip off and escape to Shoprite and the car sped off.”
“One of the people at the store took my child home and they narrated the whole
incident to me. We then went to Matsapha Police Station, where we reported the
shocking incident and further recorded statements,” Mumcy said.
She said in a bid to make sure her child was safe, she had taken it upon herself
to drive him to and from school and to alert his teachers about the incident.
