REMOVE THIS COP FROM KWALUSENI - ‘MABHANISI

MANZINI – Your best friend today can be your worst enemy tomorrow.
This adage holds true for former Kwaluseni Member of Parliament (MP) Sibusiso
‘Mabhanisi’ Dlamini and police officer Sandile Dlamini, who assisted him to
win the 2008 national elections. The relationship between the two has gone sour
such that yesterday, the former legislator asked the Royal Swaziland Police
(RSP) Service to remove the officer from the Kwaluseni registration centre.
In fact, the former MP has asked the senior officers at Matsapha Police Station
to find another Inkhundla where they could deploy the law enforcer because he
believed there could be conflict of interest, yet he was expected to remain
neutral.
When narrating his arguments to the senior police officers, the former MP said
the law enforcer was his former campaign manager (galajane) when he joined the
elections race in 2008, which he won after the officer supported him with
campaigning T-shirts among other things. He said things changed in 2013 when the
ex-legislator was campaigning to retain his position, as the officer jumped to
support his rival.
Coincidentally, in 2016, the law enforcer became one of the arresting officers
in his case of theft with false pretence, where it was alleged that he stole a
sum of E35 000 from Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development
Mduduzi ‘Small Joe’ Dlamini.
The former MP said he had made an honest application to the officers’
superiors at Matsapha Police Station, but if they failed to remove and deploy
him to another constituency, he would definitely run to the Elections and
Boundaries Commission (EBC) for their intervention.
When justifying his move, the ex-legislator said he believed that coming across
the law enforcer during the course of the elections could result in having an
unfair voting process, yet it was expected to be free and fair.
Meanwhile, Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent
Khulani Mamba confirmed the matter. He said it was being handled by the station
commander’s office.
