Times Of Swaziland: BUSINESSMAN LOSES E168 000 TO MUTI, TENDERS ‘CON ARTISTS’ BUSINESSMAN LOSES E168 000 TO MUTI, TENDERS ‘CON ARTISTS’ ================================================================================ By Sibusiso Shange on 17/04/2018 01:13:00 MBABANE – A belief that muti can make things happen has seen a businessman losing E110 000 to alleged con artists. The tale-like incident happened in Ezulwini where it is alleged that Sifiso Methula (34) of Phuzumoya, Gladys Mbuyisa (60) of Mankayane and Richard Henwood (39) of Hluti, misrepresented to Mduduzi Matsebula that they would offer him muti for resale so that he could get double the money the same day. It is alleged that during their misrepresentation, the trio solicited Matsebula to offer them E110 000 for the muti, so that he could be repaid E220 000 the same day. The charge sheet reflects that when the trio allegedly misrepresented to Matsebula, they knew very well that the said muti will not generate extra cash. It also appeared that Methula and Mbuyisa also misrepresented to Matsebula that they were employed by the Central Bank of Swaziland (CBS). It is alleged that by virtue of being ‘Central Bank employees’, the duo convinced Matsebula that there was E450 000 that was due to him at the bank. They are alleged to have demanded E20 000 for Value Added Tax (VAT) in order for the money to be released to Matsebula’s account while in Mbabane. The unsuspecting businessman is said to have suffered a loss of E25 000 after the duo had allegedly misrepresented to him that they would offer him a tender to transport Namboard staff with his motor vehicle.
