FACEBOOKERS HURL INSULTS  AT VICTOR MURDER SUSPECT

MBABANE – The public wants justice for murdered businessman Victor Gamedze and
seems to be willing to test the deepest waters to get it.
After the Royal Swaziland Police Service publicly announced the three names of
the suspects in the murder case, some Facebook users took turns to hurl insults
at one of the suspects, Mbuso Ncaza Nkosi. By midday yesterday, Nkosi’s
Facebook account was deactivated and the strings of messages on his timeline
were no longer visible.
The aggrieved users took turns to post on Nkosi’s timeline that he was wanted
in Swaziland while some did not hide what they would do to him in the event they
crossed paths with him. Some of the users posted through their seemingly
authentic accounts and did not hide their personal information as they
threatened the suspected murderer.
However, the suspect did not respond to any of the comments, but instead, he
deactivated his Facebook account.
Many of those who posted comments reminded him that the long arm of the law
would soon catch up with him. In other Facebook forums, the people who posted
the messages to Nkosi were described as stupid as they claimed that this would
affect police investigations.
Although not confirmed by the police, the Times SUNDAY reported that Nkosi is
believed to be the shooter in the video that shows Gamedze’s last moments.
It seems the disabling of the suspect’s Facebook account will not deter the
local police as the Acting Chief Police Information and Communications Officer
Assistant Superintendent Phindile Vilakati said they were not disturbed by what
happened on social media as they were experts in their line of work. Vilakati
stated that they had their own ways of getting deep into a matter and accessing
information.
This was after she was asked whether the Facebook account would not have helped
police capture the suspects and whether the public comments blew chances of
Nkosi and his accomplices being apprehended.
Vilakati stated that they were working together with their external partners to
ensure that the suspects were brought to book. She said investigators did not
leave a matter with other bodies. Nkosi was officially announced as a suspect in
the murder of Gamedze last Friday along with an unidentified suspect.
Another suspect and Mbabane socialite Sicelo Dzodzo ZikalalaLuthango was
announced by the police last Wednesday. This brought the number of wanted
suspects to three while businessman Sipho Shongwe is in the Matsapha Maximum
Correctional facility in connection with the murder.
Another suspect’s name is still is yet to be released by the police.
