Times Of Swaziland: FLORENCE FORM VS LIVID AFTER THEIR RESULTS LEAKED FLORENCE FORM VS LIVID AFTER THEIR RESULTS LEAKED ================================================================================ BY THEMBINKOSI MAVIMBELA on 02/02/2018 01:41:00 MBABANE – The bad side of social media has yet again hit the education sector. Former Form V pupils of Florence Catholic High School at Luve are aggrieved about some teachers allegedly sharing their results on social media application WhatsApp. This follows another scandal where results from the Examination Council of Swaziland were leaked a day before the day of release. The pupils, whose names have been deliberately withheld for their protection, stated that they were shocked to see their results being shared by other pupils in the school through the social media application. They said the circulating results were in a form of a picture which contained the names and results of all former Form V pupils of the school. They were aggrieved by that they did not consent to their results being shared with other people and believed that they were private. They suspected that they were leaked by one of their teachers who might have sent them to pupils whom he or she was close friends with. They were worried that some of their former schoolmates had not performed well and their privacy was violated as the whole school now knew about their performance. When asked about whether they believed the intention of circulating the results was to make fun and further embarrass them or to share with the pupils that their results were out and give them an opportunity to see how they performed, they said they did not know. However, they were adamant that they were not happy about the circu lation of their results. Desperation seems to be getting the better of the former pupils as they did not know where to report the matter when asked if they had reported it. “We fear that this practice might not end with us but we do not know where to report the matter,” the ex-pupils said. The former pupils stated that they confronted the school’s head teacher about the matter but did not get responses. “The leakage of the results certainly did not go down well with us because we had expected to get them at school. We suspect that one of the teachers did this but we don’t know the motive behind it. We got a glimpse of the results even before we obtained them at school,” one of the former pupils said.
